Ford introduced its money-spinning hatchback Figo back in the year 2010. Later in the year 2015, the American automaker launched the next generation Figo with inside and out getting a major overhaul. As can be seen in the Ford Figo pictures of the exteriors, Figo hatchback and Aspire sedan are indistinguishable except for the additional boot fixed at the rear of Aspire. Leave that apart and you can very well confuse Figo hatchback to the sedan version. Similar modish radiator grille in the front with multiple chrome bars boosts the overall outer look. Again the identical swooping head lights flank front grille, trickle to the lower bumper and you will notice the petite lower grille and fog lamps in higher variants. The outside rear view mirrors get integrated turn indicators along with power adjustable and foldable functions. The interior of the Ford Figo hatchback comes in an all black theme with piano black inserts and fabric seat upholstery on all variants. Each door pocket has space to keep at least one bottle and the centre console also has three cup holders. The higher variants get automatic climate control while the lower trims gets manual air conditioning unit. The higher variants also get electically adjustable and foldable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors). While the Trend and Titanium trims get a MyFord Dock with bluetooth connectivity, the Titanium+ version gets 4.2 inch multi function display along with SYNC AppLink that also has voice control.

The cabin inside is airy and backed up by a great amount of inner space. Similarity with the Aspire sedan is quite evident with the same dashboard and three-spoke steering wheel. Even some of the features embedded inside are same in both the cars. Figo gets black interiors with matte silver accents and touch of chrome. Fit and finish inside is nothing short of excellence and doesn’t feel cheap while its fabric upholstery is fairly sculptured. All the control buttons are well laid and are very easy to use. Ford Figo on the feature front gets 4-speaker sound system and a 4.2-inch multi-functional display that supports USB, MP3, Bluetooth and AUX. The car also boasts of comfort aspects such as steering mounted controls, climate control, keyless entry, electrically adjustable rear view mirror and height adjustable driver’s seat.

Ford Figo Gearbox

The Ford Figo hatchback is powered by three engine options, a 1.5 litre TCDi diesel, a 1.2 litre Ti-VCT petrol and a 1.5 litre Ti-VCT petrol. While the most variants come with a 1.2 litre engine in the petrol trims, the Titanium AT version gets the 1.5 litre unit. The Ford Figo’s diesel options get a 1.5 litre engine only. The 1.2 litre petrol engine generates 87 hp of power at 6,300 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The 1.5 litre petrol unit produces 110 hp of power at 6,300 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. The 1.5 litre TCDi diesel engine churns out 99 hp of power at 3,750 rpm and 215 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm to 3,000 rpm.

The Ford Figo has a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes. The 5-speed manual transmission is available on the 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engine optons. The 1.5 litre Titanium petrol powered Ford Figo comes with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmisssion which is the only dual-clutch automatic option available in the premium hatchback segment right now.The Ford Figo hatchback has a claimed fuel efficiency/mileage of 18.16 km/l for the petrol engine options and 25.83 km/l for the diesel engine options. For its segment, these mileage figures are acceptable.

The suspension has been tweaked for maximum comfort and completely in line with mass-market taste. And the comfort centric design is reflected in the suspension setup. The car fairly manages bad roads and undulations with the impressive 174mm ground clearance adding more to the comfort factor by aptly dealing with potholes.The car shines at low speeds, offering compliant ride quality to both front and rear passengers. The steering is also light in the cities and behaves just like other modern hatchbacks.

Braking duties are performed by disc brakes in front and drum brakes at rear.
